About CGMi

To understand House of Grace Benin, you need to know our heritage. We are a part of Church of God Mission International (CGMi), a global Pentecostal ministry started by Archbishop Benson Idahosa of Blessed Memory (affectionately called Papa).  Church of God Mission International began as a prayer ministry called Calvary Fellowship. It was overseen by Pastor Benson Idahosa in 1962. As the ministry grew in numerical strength, it evolved into an independent ministry, which was inaugurated in 1968 and became Church of God Mission International Inc. (CGMi inc.) by 1974.

As the church engaged in street evangelism and open-air crusades, souls were daily added to the church. The primary objective of CGM has always been evangelism. Hence our motto: Evangelism our Supreme Task.

Everywhere Papa went with the gospel, churches were planted and solid structures erected. Papa’s ministerial influence extended beyond the establishment of churches. He also founded campus ministries (Christina Fellowship International aka CFI), youth fellowships for teenagers (Christian Youth Fellowship and Agape Force), Schools (Word of Faith Group of Schools, All Nations for Christ Bible School and Benson Idahosa University) and Medical Facilities (Faith Mediplex). The aim was to raise a crop of Christians who are whole in Spirit, Soul and Body; a quest has been maintained since Archbishop Benson Idahosa’s transition to glory in 1998. Since 2000 till date, Archbishop Margaret E. Benson-Idahosa has maintained the vision of CGMi as the presiding Bishop of the ministry.

In 2011, based on the directive from Archbishop Margret Benson Idahosa (affectionately called Mama) to Rev. Osas Kenneth Obarisiagbon, House of Grace Benin was birthed to answer the call to liberate people from the bondage of religion through the gospel of grace that we preach. Our inaugural service was on the 23^rd of October and by the next week with just 37 persons (mostly students), we set off to create a dynamic worship centre where people are challenged to be all they can be and serve God freely in an atmosphere that inspires love, friendship and excellence.

As our membership grows, so does our desire to raise world leaders and champions in all facets of life. There have been mighty transformational testimonies in the lives of members of House of Grace Benin but it’s nothing compared with where God is leading us.
